On December the 14th 2025 we had another of our special Christmas meetings with our sharing buffet of food supplied by our members.
This time we invited a new friend Furniture maker Stuart Linford alias "Winston Churchill" from High Wycombe.
Stuart gave us an extensive and very informative talk on the history of the "Windsor" chair, with many examples of his work.

Stewart with his replica of the famous Winton Churchill chair complete with secret humidor store for his cigars.

I was able to shake hands with the great man himself while our Graham and his wife try out one of the many examples.
This was one of our very best Xmas meetings to date. Stewart is an extremely good speaker with a great sense of humour and he bonded very quickly with our audience of mainly Woodcarvers and a disappontingly few Stickmakers. We had somewhere between 20 and 30 people attend all together, so it made the event worthwhile. As usual the buffet was well supported with a good variety of food supplied by our members. This was a free event and it was a shame some more of the Stickmakers didn't come.
STEWART WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR WITH HIS TALK ABOUT:-
"THE ARTISANS OF ENGLISH WOODLANDS IN VICTORIAN TIMES"
